To help protect you and your Roku account, they have added two-step verification (also known as two-factor authentication or 2FA) as an extra layer of security for your Roku account.
How does two-step verification work?
Before you can sign in to your Roku account, you’ll get an email sent to the address associated with your Roku account. Click on the link in the email to complete the two-step verification process.
You can see which email address you have used with your Roku account to register your Roku device under the Settings menu of your Roku device: Settings > System > About. If you can't remember your email address or password, here's how to find or reset your email address and password.
You may be asked to create a new, unique password once you’ve completed the two-step verification process. To help keep your account secure, remember to use strong passwords, and use different passwords for each of your accounts.
What if I don't receive the verification email?
If you don't receive the verification email, you may:
- Request another email by re-entering your username and password.
- Alternatively, if you have at least one Roku streaming device on your account, you may enter the last 5 characters of ANY streaming device ID currently linked to your Roku account to complete the two-factor challenge. To find your device ID, go to the Settings menu: Settings > System > About. Learn more about how to how to find the serial number or device ID for your Roku device.
What happens if I can’t use two-step verification?
If you can’t access the verification email or use a streaming device ID, you won’t be able to sign in to your Roku account. Contact Roku Customer Support to change your email address and have a Forgot Password email sent to your new email address. You must be able to confirm the information on your Roku account with the Roku Customer Support Team to make this change.
