WiFi Appliance Codes PP, SA, CF, AP

Some TCL Wi-Fi enabled appliances may show codes such as PP, SA, CF, or AP on the appliance display. These codes are related to Wi-Fi setup and connection mode. They are not appliance error codes.

These codes may appear on Wi-Fi enabled TCL air conditioners, dehumidifiers, or other compatible TCL appliances during wireless setup.

What the Codes Mean

Code What It Means What You Should Do
PP The appliance is searching for a wireless signal. Wait about 15–20 seconds. If the code does not clear, restart Wi-Fi setup.
SA The appliance is searching for a wireless signal. Wait about 15–20 seconds. If the code does not clear, restart Wi-Fi setup.
CF The appliance is in the default Wi-Fi connection mode. This mode is used to connect the appliance directly to your home wireless router through the app. Continue setup in the TCL app.
AP The appliance is in Access Point Mode. In this mode, the appliance temporarily creates its own connection point so your phone can connect to it during setup. Continue setup in the TCL app using AP Mode.

Are These Error Codes?

  • No. PP, SA, CF, and AP are not appliance error codes.
  • They do not mean the appliance has a cooling, heating, drainage, or hardware issue. These codes are related to the appliance’s Wi-Fi setup process.

If You Are Not Using Wi-Fi

  • If you are not connecting the appliance to Wi-Fi or using the TCL app, these codes can usually be ignored.
  • The appliance can still be used manually with the control panel or remote, depending on the model.

Can These Codes Be Turned Off?

  • No. There is not a setting to permanently disable these Wi-Fi setup codes from appearing on the appliance display.
  • If the appliance is not being connected to Wi-Fi, the code may appear briefly and can usually be ignored.

What to Try If the Code Does Not Clear

If the code stays on the display, the appliance may still be in Wi-Fi setup mode or may be having trouble completing the wireless setup process.

Step 1: Wait 15–20 Seconds

  • If PP or SA appears, wait about 15–20 seconds. The appliance may simply be searching for a wireless signal.
  • If the code clears, no further action is needed.

Step 2: Restart the Appliance

If the code remains on the display:

  • Turn the appliance off.
  • Unplug the appliance from the power outlet.
  • Wait 3 minutes.
  • Plug the appliance back in.
  • Turn the appliance on.
  • Check whether the code clears.

Step 3: Restart Wi-Fi Setup

If you are trying to connect the appliance to Wi-Fi, restart the wireless setup process.

  • Make sure the appliance is powered on.
  • Press the Display button on the remote 6 times.
  • Wait about 8–10 seconds.
  • The appliance should beep and show CF on the display.
  • Open the TCL Home app and try adding the appliance again.

Step 4: Confirm Your Wi-Fi Network

Before trying setup again, check the following:

  • Your phone is connected to your home Wi-Fi network.
  • The Wi-Fi password is correct.
  • The router is powered on and working.
  • The appliance is close enough to the router to receive a strong signal.
  • The Wi-Fi network is not hidden.
  • The router is not blocking the appliance.
  • The appliance is not too far from the router.

If possible, move the appliance or router closer together during setup.

Step 5: Restart Your Router

If the appliance still does not connect:

  • Unplug your router from power.
  • Wait about 15 seconds.
  • Plug the router back in.
  • Wait for the Wi-Fi network to fully return.
  • Try the appliance setup again.

Step 6: Try AP Mode

  • If CF Mode does not complete setup, try connecting using AP Mode in the TCL app.
  • AP Mode may help when the appliance cannot connect successfully through the default CF setup method.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions in the TCL app. The app will guide you through connecting your phone to the appliance’s temporary wireless connection and then connecting the appliance to your home Wi-Fi network.

If You Still Cannot Connect the Appliance to Wi-Fi

If the appliance continues to show one of these codes or will not complete Wi-Fi setup, try the following:

  • Restart the appliance.
  • Restart your router.
  • Restart your phone.
  • Make sure the TCL app is updated.
  • Confirm the Wi-Fi password is correct.
  • Try setting up the appliance again in CF Mode.
  • If CF Mode fails, try AP Mode.
  • Move the phone closer to the appliance during setup.
  • Move the appliance closer to the router, if possible.
