Setting up the TCL Alto 5+ S522W Sound Bar

Setting up your TCL Alto 5+ S522W Sound Bar is as easy as 1-2-3. 

Installing and/or Replacing the batteries on the remote control

The remote control has a pre-installed battery.  Required battery type: CR2025

Prior to using the remote control, make sure to remove the protective plastic tab as shown below.

 

 

To replace the battery, open the compartment by pressing the plastic trigger clip, then pull the the compartment out.

 

 

Remove the old battery and replace only with a new or unused battery.

Seat the battery and push the compartment to lock in place.  You should hear a click to ensure it has been secured properly.

 

Position Your Sound Bar and Subwoofer

The ideal place to position the Sound Bar main unit is centered underneath your TV.
You are recommended to place the Sound Bar main unit on the top of the cabinet and right below the center of your TV. The distance between the subwoofer and the Sound Bar main unit should be less than 9.8'.
Note: Do not place your sound bar in a location exposed to direct sunlight, heat, fire, or moisture.

 
 

Power on your sound bar unit and subwoofer

  1. Connect the one of the supplied power adapter to the subwoofer.  Then plug the subwoofer into a power outlet. 
  2. Toggle the power switch from “Off” to “On”.
  3. Connect the other supplied power adapter to the main sound bar unit.  Then plug the man unit into a power outlet.  

CAUTION: Do not exceed the maximum supply voltage. AC power adapter should only be used with TCL S522W model units.

 
 

Pairing or repairing the subwoofer

Below are the quick step-by-step instructions on how to pair or re-pair the wireless subwoofer with the main sound bar unit.

  1. Power on the sound bar and subwoofer.
  2. Press the toggle switch to “ON”.
  3. Quickly press on the Sound Bar twice.
  4. When the flashing LED light turns to solid, 
    Pairing is successful.

Pair with a Bluetooth device

You can stream music from your mobile device via Bluetooth.
1. Press the power button of the Sound Bar.
2. Press to enable Bluetooth mode.  Note: This is the default when the sound bar powers on.
3. Select TCL S522W on your phone.

  •  You hear a sound signal.
  • Pairing is successful.

If you want to pair with another phone or device:

  1. Press and hold the Bluetooth button on the sound bar or the Play/Pause button on your remote control to disconnect the current device.
  2. And then select TCL S522W phone or device.
    • You hear a sound signal.
    • Pairing is successful.
 
 

Connecting the sound bar to a TV via HDMI ARC Port

Note: HDMI cable is not included

  1. Make sure your TV or device supports the HDMI ARC feature. For information, check the user manual of your TV or device.
  2. Connect one end of the HDMI cable to the HDMI ARC input connector on your Sound Bar and another end to the HDMI ARC output connector of your TV or device.
  3. To get the best possible audio experience using the HDMI cable, enable the CEC function in the settings of the TV.
 
 

Connecting the sound bar to a TV via Optical cable

 

  1. Remove the protective caps from the optical cable when necessary.
  2. Connect one end of the optical cable to the optical input connector on your Sound Bar and another end to the optical output connector of your TV or device.

Note:
If there is no sound output from the Sound Bar, try to activate the PCM signal output on your TV or device. PCM is used to convert analog audio signals into digital audio signals in most devices. For more information of how to activate the PCM signal output, check the user manual of your TV or device.

 

Direction for setting up your Sound Bar using an optical cable

  1. To get the best possible audio experience using the optical cable:
  2. Press the Home button on your TCL TV Remote.
  3. Navigate to Audio option under Settings.
  4. Uncheck the “TV speaker enabled” option.
  5. Under S/PDIF and ARC, select PCM-Stereo.

Notes:

  • Different devices and TV models by other manufacturers may have different menu options.  Please refer to your TV or equipment's user manual for instructions.
  • Devices such as Blu-ray players, set-top boxes, etc. are also applicable.
