A channel scan helps your TV find and save free over-the-air channels available through a connected antenna. Before you begin, connect your antenna to the TV’s CABLE/ANT port.
Scan for channels
- Press Home on your Fire TV remote.
- Open Settings.
- Select Live TV, then choose Channel Scan.
- Check that your antenna cable is securely connected to the TV, then select Next.
- If prompted, open Advanced Options and choose the scan type for your setup. For a digital antenna, select Digital Only. If you’re unsure which option to use, check your antenna or TV documentation.
- Wait for the scan to finish. This may take a few minutes.
- When the scan is complete, the TV will show how many channels it found. Select Manage Channels to add channels to your favorites or hide channels you don’t want to see.
- Select Done. If no channels were found, adjust the antenna and scan again.
If the TV doesn’t find channels
- Make sure the antenna is connected to the TV’s CABLE/ANT port.
- Confirm that the TV is set to scan for antenna channels, not cable channels.
- Try moving the antenna closer to a window or to a higher location, then scan again.
- Check that the antenna supports the broadcast signals available in your area.
Menu names may vary slightly depending on your Fire TV software version. TCL’s current scan instructions use Settings > Live TV > Channel Scan.
