Seeing lines on your TV screen can be frustrating, but don’t worry — in many cases, it’s an easy fix! Whether the lines are vertical, horizontal, or flickering, follow these steps to troubleshoot and get your screen looking normal again.
Step 1: Check the Cable Connections
Loose or damaged cables are a common cause of screen issues.
Make sure all HDMI and power cables are securely connected
If using an external device (like a cable box or game console), try unplugging and reconnecting the HDMI cable
Test a different HDMI cable to rule out a bad connection
Step 2: Try a Different Input or Source
This helps determine whether the issue is with the TV or something connected to it.
Press the Input button on your remote and switch to a different HDMI source
Use a built-in app (like Netflix or YouTube) to see if the lines still appear
If the lines only appear with one device or input, the issue is likely with that device — not the TV.
Step 3: Power Cycle the TV
Sometimes, a quick reset can clear temporary glitches.
Turn off the TV and unplug it from the wall
Wait 30 seconds
Plug it back in and power it on
Step 4: Look for Physical Screen Damage
Carefully inspect the screen for cracks or pressure points. Damage like this can cause lines to appear and may require professional repair.
Step 5: Factory Reset (Last Resort)
If the lines continue and you’ve ruled out all other causes, try a factory reset:
Go to Settings > Device Preferences > Reset
Select Factory data reset
Follow the on-screen instructions (Directions may very based upon the TV's OS)
⚠️ This will erase your settings and downloaded apps — use this only if other steps didn’t help.
