Dehumidifier Testing Standards and Product Pint Capacity

Dehumidifier pint rating is based on how much moisture can be removed within a 24 hour period.   The testing conditions have been modified in 2020 by the Department of Energy.   Instead of testing performed at 80 degrees Fahrenheit the are now tested at 65F.  This has resulted in a reduction of the pint capacity rating.    For example a dehumidifier manufactured and sold prior to 2020 with a rating of 70 pint is now equivalent to a 50 pint dehumidifier.
