When your TCL Google TV is idle, you can choose what displays on your screen. Whether you prefer beautiful images, personal photos, or custom artwork, your TV’s Ambient Mode lets you set a screensaver that fits your style.
Choose a Screensaver
To choose what shows on your screen when you're not actively watching TV:
From the Home screen, go to Settings
Select System
Choose Ambient Mode
Pick your preferred screensaver option
Use Google Photos as a Screensaver
You can turn your personal photos into a screensaver using your Google Photos albums, favorites, or highlights.
To set this up on your TV:
Go to Settings > System > Ambient Mode
Select Google Photos from the list
Verify your identity if prompted
Choose the albums you want to use
Select Confirm
To set it up using your phone:
Open the Google Home app
Select your TV device
Tap Settings > Ambient Mode > Google Photos
Choose the photos or albums you’d like to display
Create a Custom AI Art Screensaver
Generate personalized, AI-created art to display when your TV is idle.
To create AI art:
Go to Settings > System > Ambient Mode
Select Custom AI Art > Create new…
Choose how you'd like to create your artwork:
Describe your idea – Type in a prompt for the image you want
Inspire me – Let Google TV generate a surprise design
Suggested templates – Pick a theme to guide the artwork
Once the artwork is generated, you can:
Scroll through different image variations
Save your favorites
Generate new versions using the same idea
Start over with a different prompt
Select Set all as screensaver when you're ready
Delete Custom AI Images
To remove images you've created:
Go to the Custom AI Art page
Select Manage Images
Choose the images you want to delete, then select Delete
Report an AI-Generated Image
If you see something inappropriate or unexpected:
Select Feedback after generating the image
Follow the on-screen steps to explain why you're reporting it

Show Weather & Time on Your Screensaver
To add useful information like time and weather:
Go to Settings > System > Ambient Mode
Under More Settings, toggle on weather and clock options
Note: Weather information is based on your home address in the Google Home app. If no address is set, it uses your IP address, which may differ from other devices in your home.
