Can't See My Wireless Network

If your TCL Roku TV does not display your Wi-Fi network, follow the steps below in order.

Step 1: Scan for Networks Again

  • On the Choose your network screen, select Scan again to see all networks.
  • Wait for the scan to finish and check the list again.

Why this step is needed: The first scan may finish before the router’s signal is detected.

Step 2: Confirm the Network Is Available

  • Stand near the TV and check whether a phone, tablet, or computer can see the same Wi-Fi network.
  • If other devices cannot see it, restart the router or contact the internet provider.
  • If other devices can see it, continue to the next step.

Why this step is needed: This determines whether the network is unavailable to every device or only to the TV.

Step 3: Restart the TV and Router

Restart the TCL Roku TV:

  • Settings > System > Power > System restart > Restart
  • Then unplug the router for approximately 60 seconds. Reconnect it and wait until its internet lights return to normal before scanning on the TV again.

Why this step is needed: Restarting refreshes the TV’s network scan and the router’s wireless connection.

Step 4: Check the TV’s Location

  • If possible, move the router closer to the TV or temporarily reduce obstacles between them. Avoid placing the router inside a cabinet or directly behind large metal objects.

Why this step is needed: Walls, cabinets, appliances, and distance can weaken the wireless signal enough that the network does not appear.

Step 5: Enter a Hidden Network Manually

If the network name is hidden:

  • Select Private network on the network screen.
  • Enter the network name, also called the SSID, exactly as it appears in the router settings.
  • Enter the Wi-Fi password when prompted.
  • Network names and passwords are case-sensitive.

Why this step is needed: Hidden networks do not normally appear in the available-network list and must be entered manually.

Step 6: Check the Router Settings

If the network still does not appear, confirm that:

  • Wi-Fi broadcasting is enabled.
  • The network is not limited by parental controls, access controls, or MAC address filtering.
  • The router is using settings supported by the TV.
  • The router’s firmware is current.
  • Router settings vary. Contact the router manufacturer or internet provider before changing settings you are unsure about.

Why this step is needed: Certain router restrictions or compatibility settings can prevent the TV from detecting or joining the network.

Conclusion

After restarting the TV and router, scan for networks again. If other devices can see the network but the TCL Roku TV still cannot, contact TCL Support with the TV model number and router make and model.
