How to pair your remote with your TCL Android TV

How to Pair or Re-Pair Your Voice Remote with a TCL Android TV

Your TCL Android TV voice remote connects to the TV using Bluetooth, which enables voice features and full navigation. If your remote ever stops responding, pairing it again usually fixes the issue.

Pair / Re-Pair the Remote (Primary Method)

  • Turn on the TV.

  • Stand within 3 feet (1 meter) of the TV.

  • On the remote, press and hold HOME + OK at the same time.

  • Keep holding until you see the on-screen pairing prompt/confirmation (if shown), then release.

Tip: If your TV is showing an initial setup screen after a reset, pairing may be required before the remote fully works.

If Pairing Doesn’t Work: Troubleshooting Steps

1) Check the batteries first

  • Remove the batteries, wait 10 seconds, then reinstall them.

  • If possible, replace with fresh, matching batteries (weak batteries are the most common cause of pairing failures).

2) Move closer and reduce interference

  • Keep the remote within 3 feet of the TV during pairing.

  • Temporarily move Bluetooth devices (headphones, speakers, game controllers) away from the TV while pairing.

3) Restart (power cycle) the TV

  • Unplug the TV from power.

  • Wait 60 seconds.

  • Plug it back in and try pairing again using HOME + OK.

4) Pair through the TV menu (if you can navigate)

If you can use another remote, a USB keyboard, or the TV buttons to navigate:

  • Go to Settings > Remotes & Accessories and try adding/pairing the remote again.

5) If only the Power button works

Some TCL remotes can still send basic commands (like Power) without being fully paired. If most buttons don’t work, re-pair using HOME + OK.

If You Need a Temporary Remote Right Now

You can use a phone as a remote while you get the physical remote paired:

  • Install the Android TV Remote Control app and connect your phone and TV to the same Wi-Fi network.

Still Not Pairing?

If pairing continues to fail after trying the steps above:

  • Try fresh batteries again

  • Power cycle the TV one more time

  • Confirm you’re using the correct remote for that TV model (replacement/universal remotes may not support Bluetooth voice features)
