Freezer Door Is Difficult to Open After Closing

• It is normal for a freezer door to be very difficult to reopen immediately after it has been closed.
• When the freezer door is opened, warm room air enters the cabinet. After the door is closed, this air cools and contracts, creating a temporary pressure difference inside the freezer. This can cause the door gasket to seal tightly against the cabinet and make the door feel difficult to open.

What to Do

• Wait approximately 1–2 minutes before attempting to reopen the freezer door. This allows the internal pressure to equalize and the door should become easier to open.
• In some conditions, such as when the freezer is very cold or the door was left open for an extended period, it may take slightly longer for the pressure to normalize.
