What is True HDR

"True HDR" refers to content or display technology that genuinely delivers the full benefits of High Dynamic Range. This means it can show a much wider range of brightness and colors than standard (SDR) imaging—bringing out details in both the darkest shadows and the brightest highlights. Here’s what that entails:

For Displays: A "true HDR" display meets specific industry standards (like HDR10, Dolby Vision, or HDR10+) with high peak brightness, deep blacks, and a broad color gamut. This ensures images look more lifelike and detailed.

For Photography: True HDR imaging is achieved by combining multiple exposures of the same scene to capture details in both bright and dark areas, resulting in a final image that mirrors the range of light your eyes see in the real world.

In essence, "True HDR" isn’t just a buzzword—it means the technology is genuinely delivering an enhanced visual experience with richer contrast and more vibrant colors.
