You can use Gemini for TV to help you find TV shows or movies, get recommendations based on your taste, or ask questions about any topic. Gemini uses Google’s most advanced AI so you can talk naturally and get thoughtful responses to questions on a wide range of topics on your TV.
- Find what to watch: “What are some movies like Mission Impossible but funnier?”
- Have conversations on any topic: “Can you explain the solar system to my third grader?”
- Get help with everyday actions and routines: “Show me the backyard camera.”

Tips:
- Gemini for TV is optimized for Google TV devices and isn’t the same as Gemini apps on your phone, tablet, or desktop. Gemini for TV has its own set of settings found on the TV device or in the Google Home app.
Availability
Important: When you turn on Gemini for TV, all your eligible TVs also get Gemini for TV automatically.
Gemini for TV is available only:

On select devices:
- TCL QM9K
- In English (US and Canada) and French (Canada).
- On a TV device added to Google Home.
- On a Home member TV Profile.
In the future, Gemini for TV will be available on additional Google TV devices, regions, and languages.
Age requirements
Gemini AI responses are only available for account profiles associated with users 18 years old and above. Gemini for TV isn’t available in kids profiles and other non-kids profiles for users under 18 years of age. These accounts will continue to receive the existing Google Assistant experience.
Setup & settings
When you first set up your TV, you can set up Gemini for TV.

Select a Voice for Google Gemini
You can personalize how Gemini sounds with new, more expressive voices. The voice applies across eligible Google TVs, speakers, and smart displays.
Access Gemini Hands Free
Important: To access Gemini hands-free, make sure the microphone is turned on. You can check this on the side or underside of your device.
You can control your TV without a remote control on devices that have hands-free capabilities. When your TV is on or on standby, Gemini can listen to you when you say “Hey Google.”
To turn on hands-free access to Gemini:
- Go to Settings
.
- Select Accounts & Profiles

- Turn on Hands-free mic.
Tips:
- Gemini may activate when it hears voices or noises that sound like “Hey Google” or “OK Google.”
- The hands-free microphone may be located on the TV, on the remote, or on your streamer device. You can also mute the microphone. Refer to your manufacturer's manual.
- If you have multiple devices that can respond to “Hey Google,” only one of the devices should respond based on your proximity to the device and the volume of your voice, type of request, and capabilities of the device.
Turn on Personal Results and Voice Match
You can allow personal results from your Google Photos, Google Calendar, and more on your TV when you use Gemini. Anyone who uses this device can get personal results for the signed-in account, unless you’ve set up Voice Match on the device.
Tips:
- In the Google Home app, you can manage Voice Match settings. If Voice Match is on, a similar voice or recording can access your personal results.
Add a TV to Google Home
To use Gemini for TV, your TV must be added to Google Home. On initial setup, you can add your TV to a home. You can change the home at any time on your TV or in the Google Home app.
On your TV:
- Go to Settings
- Select Accounts & Profiles
- Select Add TV to Home.
On the Google Home mobile app:
- On your device, open the Google Home app
.
- Tap Device
- To add or move the device, tap Home or Placement.
Add Profiles as Home Members
To have access to Gemini for TV, you can add Google Account profiles connected to the TV as Home members in the Google Home mobile app.
Manage your data
If you turn on Web & App Activity, your interactions with Gemini are saved under “Google Assistant” in your Google Account. You can delete your Google Assistant activity at any time.
