Vulnerabilities found in TCL Android TVs
TCL was recently notified by an independent security researcher of two vulnerabilities in Android TV models. Once TCL received notification, the company quickly took steps to investigate, thoroughly test, develop patches, and implement a plan to send updates to resolve the matter. Updating devices and applications to enhance security is a regular occurrence in the technology industry, and these updates are currently being distributed to all affected Android TV models. Depending on which TCL Roku TV you are using, you will have one of the following remotes. Select the image of your remote:

TIP: Check out the free Roku Mobile App for tablets and smartphones. Makes it easy to manage and access many features of your TCL Roku TV.
Standard IR remotes use an invisible Infra-Red light to transmit remote key selections. To ensure IR remotes are operating reliably, they must be pointed directly at the front of your TCL Roku TV. To resolve issues with your standard IR remote, try the following:
As you can see, the IR emitter is more visible in a darker room and quite hard to see in a brightly lit room. Note: Both photos show the same remote being tested.
If no light is seen from the IR emitter, then it is likely that the remote is defective. If the remote is emitting an IR signal, but the TV still does not turn on or respond, confirm that nothing is blocking the TV's IR receiver (located underneath the TCL logo). If there’s clear line of sight, and the TV still does not turn on, then the issue could lie with the IR receiver on the TV.
The enhanced remotes connect over your wireless network and do not need to be pointed directly at your TCL Roku TV. This easy-to-use remote needs to be paired during initial TV setup. To resolve any issues with your enhanced remote, refer to the recommended steps below:
